Don't take this as justification, it's anything but that. Purely a look at their motivations and timing.

I'm not happy I was completely spot on, I'm sad this wasn't a more widely shared prescience.
Ive left reddit permenantly after I thunk 16 years because I caught a ban for repeating a Luigi slogan. Probably for the best, I should of left long ago and it is a mere shadow of its former usefulness and entertainment.
Reddit doesn't give a single shit about violence. For the first time in decades, Luigi put a tiny bit of fear of god in the hearts of those in power, and they will have brought this up repeatedly in their exec group chats. With current US gov, it's not unlikely they'll have steered this too.

Why is a reddit "moderation tool"? Phrasing it this way makes it seem like it's some side effect, like they want to shift responsibility away.
It is reddit that decided to flag it like this.

because it is. Anyone who spends 5 minutes on Reddit knows this has become code for violence over the last few months.
If threats of violence against immoral or illegal systems becomes widespread and has to be censored, the system may be the problem, not the people.

Reddit is full of violent content that the admins and moderators overlook.
/r/combatfootage and /r/ukrainerussiareport/ are full people cracking jokes about violent deaths and advocating for violence.
It is telling that only certain kinds of violent content are banned.

Hear, hear. The moment the working class gets a whiff of the overwhelming power they have over the patricians and the state, there is oppression.
Trump has shocked us with things we thought unimaginable. If he goes much further, we're going to see massive strikes and protests.
